Yesterday the Sri Lankan national cricket team was attacked while in convoy to the games in Pakistan. We watched it as it was happening on TV on local news. Cricket here is a national sense of pride, rivaling that of our NFL or profesional baseball. At the time, it wasn't clear what the motivation was for the attack, seing as how this was one of the only games Pakistan was able to arrange due to the recent violence. Was it against Sri Lanka or Pakistan, it is not entirely clear over here. People, non the less, are deeply saddened. Overall things seem very safe were I am at. The Lotus Buds compound has high walls and metal gates that are closed during the evening. People are very friendly, and despite thier unsettling presence, armed military guards and police are literally on every stree corner, questioning all those who might look suspicious.
